Trump Associates Charged with Forgery in 2020 Election Overturn Attempt

Wisconsin charges have been filed against three Trump associates – attorneys Kenneth Chesebro and James Troupis, and former staff member Michael Roman – for their alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election. This marks the fourth state to pursue election interference charges related to the 2020 election.

Last month in Arizona, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and several Trump allies, along with alleged fake electors, pleaded not guilty to charges relating to efforts to contest the state’s 2020 election results. Meanwhile, Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford announced felony charges against six alleged “fake electors” in December.

Chesebro and Roman were previously charged with Trump in Georgia last August over attempts to overturn the state’s 2020 election results. Chesebro pleaded guilty to a single felony charge of conspiracy in that case, agreeing to testify and provide documents and evidence. Meanwhile, in Michigan, Attorney General Dana Nessel charged 16 “alternate electors” for conspiracy to commit forgery and other charges in July.
